We create optimum health and well-being, through close clinical monitoring, technology, state of the art equipment, new programs, education, motivation, and self discipline. Why is the Stroke Recovery Program at AristaCare at Cedar Oaks the highest caliber in the area with some of the best results in the region? The opportunity for maximum recovery is a short window of time immediately following the stroke. Recovery is directly impacted by the intensity of rehab and attention to all deficient functions in a timely fashion. At AristaCare at Cedar Oaks, our specialized stroke rehabilitation program is comprised of a multidisciplinary approach, including neurology, physiatry, nursing, rehabilitation, therapeutic recreation, pharmacy, nutrition, and social services. These disciplines work together to bring about the most progression possible for the stroke patient. Ours is a unique and proprietary stroke program that is very aggressive and focused on goals. This all-encompassing program is followed carefully by all the departments as a team to ensure the best results. Each stroke patient is enrolled in the program upon admission, and is empowered with the most comprehensive stroke education, as well as expertly rehabilitated with targeted stroke rehab. Specialty Stroke Certified StaffOur nurses, CNA’s, rehab team, and therapeutic recreation staff are all thoroughly educated and certified in stroke care as well as ACLS/BLS in clinical and rehab care. State of the Art Specialty Computerized EquipmentOur Biodex Balance System is used for both assessment and treatment. It tests balance in four different ways: postural stability; limits of stability; single leg stability and fall risk testing. The measurements from each test are clearly defined and objective. These results are printed out and used for comparison in future tests to demonstrate a patient’s progress. The treatment mode of this system has several different components which train the patient in their areas of deficiency. The training mode has a high patient compliance due to its game-like quality. Our Biodex Gait Trainer is a treadmill system is used for assessment and treatment. In the assessment mode, the therapist is able to print out objective measurements about various components of the gait pattern. In the training mode, a computer screen shows the patient their actual gait pattern and gives them cues as to what to do to normalize the gait pattern. It works as a type of visual biofeedback. Physician IntegrationOur Stroke Recovery Program physicians include neurologist, Dr. Michael Merkin and physiatrist, Dr. Sushma Agarwal who work closely together with each patient to ensure the optimum results.
